Is Linkmyplace for my business ?

Linkmyplace is a solution that makes it easy and cheap for creating applications and interactive experiences for smartphones. It integrates an IOT web platform, smartphones, tablets and IoT devices to build innovative solutions.

Does your business need proximity marketing?

Proximity marketing is advertising of your business to people in the proximity area of your business, on their smartphones. This concept is normally associated with the use of Beacons, small electronic devices that emit a signal that is captured by smartphones apps. Linkmyplace brings innovation to this process by making it possible to advertise your business, even if you don't have a beacon. You can advertise your business, based on a person being near a GPS coordinate, a cellphone tower, a WiFi router or a Bluetooth beacon.

 What about inside my business?

Proximity marketing is a great tool for your company to let people know your business exists in some location and attract a new customer, offering him some kind of promotion. But what can Linkmyplace offer once the customer is inside your business?

Well, a lot! First, you can provide different content to be shown to your customer based on his location inside your facility. If you are a monument or a museum, you can show him multimedia content, related to the work of arts, as he moves inside. If you have a retail shop, you can suggest products, when is his near the vegetables, or some other área. You can also know which areas of your facility get more people, their routes and more.

But beside this, you can also build innovative applications that facilitate the life of your customers or solve operational business processes of your business. One example is that you can assign tasks to your employees, based on their location, área of expertise, their occupancy and so on. This means you can promptly react when some random event occurs.

Because Linkmyplace is an IoT platform, this means that these applications can also receive information from devices with sensors, not limiting them to users location. As an example, you have a device that is collecting temperature values in some area, and you want to assign a person to check the problem if the temperature rises above a certain level. Possibilities are endless !!!

Conclusion

So the question remains, is Linkmyplace for your business? We believe so, but you will be the judge of that. One thing is for sure, you can tell us your problems or what you are trying to achieve, and we will give you an answer. So feel free to contact us, if you want to know more or have a challenge for us.

Cheers,
Linkmyplace

How we can improve tourism experiences

Portugal is experiencing a fast increase in tourism in the recent years. It has been acknowledged by several entities has a "must" for tourists to visit and this has brought the country increased revenues, thus helping to beat the economic crisis the country was facing.

We have seen a lot of transformation in our cities, having several new businesses to flourish around the tourism services, improved infrastructures, raise in employment and much more, but a lot more can be done.

We have about 3275 monuments and more than 400 museums, an excellent gastronomy and besides being a small country, we have great landscapes and beaches. We have it all!

When you face this rapid increase in tourism, you must adapt your offer to the new circumstances. One of the problems is having trained guides that know the history and culture and that can communicate at least in English to explain to tourists what they are seeing. Sure you can publish written guides, but this is not practical in this days, where all people is used to the speed of information.

Let me give one or two examples. We have several castles and monuments that need a guide to explain to tourists the history behind what they are seeing. You can provide training to a person to be a guide, but this impose restrictions in guided visits, because they must have a certain number of people and occur at specific times. Also for the tourist, it means he must keep following the guide or it will lose some explanation, not being able to spend more time watching something of his particular interest This also happens at museums, where if you lose the group, you lose information.

The problem is worse for people with disabilities, because his even more difficult to provide human solutions to every kind of disability, and tourism and culture should be an inclusive activity.

This and other problems can be solved easily with Linkmyplace. It works by placing cheap devices near monuments or works of art, and associating multimedia content to these devices. When the tourist gets in the proximity of this devices, it will trigger the exhibition of the content on their mobile phones. It's like having a personal guide in your hands, that keeps with your own pace, speaking your language, whether by spoken, written or gesture language, thus reaching a broader audience.

This solution also means that we have less need to train human guides and are less dependent on them, so you can keep pace with demand, have a better offer, save costs and achieve better notoriety.

What IOT can do for your business

Also users passing near your business and that dont have the mobile app installed, can have a popup message on their phones notifying them of your business.
  • Interactivity - Linkmyplace has a feature that permits that you deliver specific content, based on user location, even inside buildings. What does this mean ? • Convenience - A business that has waiting queues can alert their customers when its near their turn to be attended, and this way they don't have to wait in place.

Results of campaign with ad.fly

In my last article, i spoke about setting up a campaign on ad.fly to advertise my business and today i want to share with you my conclusions about the effectiveness of such a campaign.

I had two campaigns rolling on ad.fly. The first campaign exhibit my business website while the second one exhibit my youtube promoting video. To measure the effectiveness of both campaigns, for my site i have been analysing the results with Google Analytics, and for the video with Youtube analytics. In Google Analytics i also put some events on  my website to see what was the user behavior.

One mistake that i have made is to set up this events only by the end of campaign, so my conclusions are based mostly on observation of real time statistics. For the video here are the stats

Sorry for the Portuguese, but i will translate. So there were 608 views of my videos, with an average time of 26 seconds. Considering that my videos are about 1 minute length, i believe this is actually a good result.

The video was also viewed in many countries, which means that the campaign really respected my target.

For the website i get all the traffic they promise and also the traffic respected my target selection, so i am pleased with that.

So just not to bore you with statistics, here are my conclusions. Ad.fly delivered what they promissed and for 40 USD i was able to reach 40.000 people. From people o visit my website, i did get some navigation and some of them even click on the register button, but maybe naively, i expected more.

So this makes me think if i am delivering well the message of what my business is all about, the advantages it brings to people and business, or if my conception of added value is wrong. Time will tell.

I am open to suggestions and critics about this article or my business and would like to know your opinion and similar experiences. It would help a lot!

Cheers

Attracting people to your site - testing adfly

Today i want to share with you my experience with a service called adf.ly , and the results in the first day of my campaign.

My relation with this service is that i am only a client and i don't receive a penny for talking about them here.

For those o dont know adf.ly is a url shortner service that transforms big urls into tiny url's, like google and others. The nice thing about add.fly is that when you share your tiny url, people o receive it see a 5 seconds add before proceeding to the desteny.

Watching some videos on youtube, i discover this service and how you can set a campaign to advertise whatever you want on them for a low price, and thought to myself it was worth trying to advertise Linkmyplace

Setting up a campaign is easy, you choose how much you want to buy of traffic.

As you can see in the picture you can choose between worldwide traffic, specific countries, or both and the price is per 1000 visualizations of your ad for 5 seconds. This means that if you want to show your ad for 10000 people worldwide, you put 10 USD in "Worldwide Deal" and so on. After making the payment you can setup how your campaign will behave.

For instance i set my campaign to deliver 10 USD to worldwide traffic and 5 USD to Portugal traffic. Then i set i want this campaign to spend a maximum of 2 USD per day to distribute the traffic, and also on every day of the week. This means that my campaign will run for about 8 days.

The site offers some script for including in my webpage to give statistics inside add.fly of conversions, but in my case i am using google analitics for checking the results of the campaign.

As you can see in this picture it seems they are fulfilling what they promise and respecting my daily budget

On Google Analytics the traffic was all like this during certain periods of the day and global numbers for the day are as follows

So my conclusion for now is that people are seeing my site, even if it is only for 5 seconds. How much of this people stops to really look at my site and how many of them will register in the site will be subject of further analysis during the campaign, but i will share with you my conclusions in a future post.

Meanwhile, please let me know what you think about the subject, if you know a better approach, please share it.

Cheers

Life of a business - A blog of a entrepreuner efforts to bring is dream to life

People have dreams !!!
This is the story of a normal person with a dream  and starting a new business. The objective behind this blog is to describe my ideas and ventures in building a new business called Linkmyplace. I hope that my experiences may help somebody in the same situation and expect also to receive people opinions and advices on subjects discussed here.

The journey begins,

In middle of 2016 i was shopping in the supermarket with my wife and she was complaining that it was stupid to take a number for turn for the fish order, and then have to be around to check if it was near calling her number. For her it was a waste of time having to wait there while she could be doing the rest of her shopping, and she was right.

This planted an idea in my mind for solving this problem, but soon this idea generated more ideas, this became a project, the project became a prototype, and on an on...

Its hard when you are the one man show. You are the developer working at nights, the designer, the marketeer trying to get your business to be known, the seller, the CEO and more. You budget is low has it comes from your salary, and so you try to make magic with all this constraints.

Sure, many people out there are having the same experience, and like me seeking for the magic formula that will put their dream on the map.

Internet is a sea of opportunities filled with pirates. This pirates want to steal your money and their guns are promises of fast results, fast money, fast everything. It is already difficult to manage your small budget and take a wise decision where to put your money for maximum efficiency, but also how to avoid all the noise of these burglars.

In the next posts i will be sharing with you some of the decisions and services i have been using to promote my dream business, how i used them, their cost and success.

I hope to build here a community, where people share their opinions and experiences, good or bad.

People with a dream has me, that believe in hardwork and success.
